top monthly picks

I decided to revive my monthly favourites post just as a recap to remind myself what beauty products I have been obsessed with in the previous month. Some of these products may be new acquisitions and some of them have been in my stash for a while. I have combined both January and February for now because I forgot to do one last month.

top monthly picks - revlon lacquer matte balm

Y’all know by now that I have a real obsession with the newly released Revlon Colorburst Lacquer and Matte Balms. Seriously good stuff and I like the fact that the finishes are rather different. The formula is smooth and wear time is pretty decent for a balmy lipstick thing. I’d highly recommend checking them out if you have not done so already.

top monthly picks - clinique eye primer

I blogged about the Clinique eye primer just last week and this has earned some Holy Grail status amongst all eye primers I own and have tried in the past. It helps my eyeshadows last a very long time without creasing. If you have oily lids, this eye primer may be something you need.

top monthly picks - l'oreal lucent magique primer

I think I purchased the L’Oreal Lucent Magique Primer quite a long time ago but never really got around to using it until recently. This face primer gives a beautiful glow-from-within skin if you apply below a foundation and can act as a lovely and subtle highlighter if you apply over foundation. I wouldn’t suggest this to very oily skin though because it does not help with oil control and may in fact make your face look more shiny.

top monthly picks - shefit sports bra

Okay, this is not a beauty product but OMG has it helped with my workout routine. I came across the SheFit Sports Bra on Kickstarter last year and immediately told le hubby to pledge for it (he has a Kickstarter account). I received my bra in January and have been extremely happy with it. It helps reduce (and in some cases, eliminate) bounce, which can be painful if you have large breasts. The adjustable shoulder and back straps can help with getting the right fit you need. The only downside is that is costs US$70 each and can only be ordered online. This means that you will not be able to try it on unless you purchase it, so get your measurements and sizing right before getting one.

top monthly picks - tivoli cookies

My last favourite for this round-up is a food related item. I got this tin of Tivoli Blueberry & Coconut Cookies from Cold Storage a few weeks ago. It is a dry-ish biscuit but packed with lots of coconut and blueberry flavour without being overly sweet. Each cookie is approximately 36cal, which makes it a relatively low-calorie snack unless you eat the whole tin in one go (not recommended). There are several different flavours available and each tin costs RM8.90.

So, what did you enjoy last month? Do you see any of your faves here too? Do pop in and share.

i tried the Revlon Lacquer Balms and wasn’t able to pick anything although I was pretty sure I would buy at least one initially. The colour which I saw online, Vivacious, wasn’t available here and the others just weren’t what I had in mind >.< sigh. I might go back and pickup Whimisical and Provocateur, but no hurry since these are permanent.

My favs? It must be that Guerlain Crazy Meteorites powder because it's so convenient, and Kevyn Aucoin's sensual skin enhancer and Sofina's Primavista Ange long keep base! Pretty much my basic for the entire Jan & Feb! And Maybelline Lip Polish!

Hi Plue, Some of the shades in the Matte / Lacquer Balm range are a little weird, so I’m not surprised that you have not found one you like. It’s a pity they didn’t bring in the full range too but you just never know, Vivacious may show up someday. Your faves sound interesting. I’ve never tried Kevyn Aucoin products before, are they any good?

Hey Juan, The Clinique Cheek Pops are really nice and too cute for words, so I can see why you’re obsessed. I think we all are. And I can’t believe you have not gotten the new Revlon chubby sticks yet. Well, they are permanent so there’s no real rush.

I picked the Revlon Lacquer Balm in Whimsical and it appears as a nice deep fuchsia-berry-pink on my lips. It has a bit too much shimmer for my liking but this colour would look good for wedding dinners. I bought it after seeing it on your Instagram and I must tell you how much I enjoy looking your Instragram posts which shows your makeup for the day :-) I also picked up Clinique’s Cheek Pop Blush in Berry Pop and it is definitely one to keep. I have tried the Tivoli biscuits too in Apple flavour and it is not too bad although some people do find it a bit sweet though.

Hi Victoria, Thanks for liking the Instagram pics. I was initially hesitant about posting my face up so frequently but I started enjoying it. They are like mini blog posts. Hehehe…

I love your picks and it looks like you’re on a berry-kick.
