Totally Poisoned by Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Venom

in Lipstick, Urban Decay

I have been doing a bunch of lips-of-the-day on Instagram in the last few weeks and noticed that most of the colours I’ve worn were relatively neutral and work-friendly. In other words, they were kinda safe.

I went through my lipstick stash looking for something more dramatic and dug out the Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Venom. I purchased this sometime back when the Revolution Lipsticks first hit our local shores and nearly forgot about it.

The Revolution Lipstick comes in a solid gunmetal case with the words Urban Decay etched on the side. The inner tube is in the usual shiny purple that Urban Decay likes to slap on a lot of their packaging. The lipstick bullet feels sleek and is so much better than their previous lipstick packaging with the sword tip sticking out. If you’ve seen their older lipsticks, you’ll know what I mean.

Venom is a dark berry with fuschia and violet undertones. There is a hint of shimmer but it’s not very noticeable. It is a really beautiful colour! The texture is creamy and feels comfortable on the lips. It is a fairly long-lasting shade too and can easily stay on throughout an entire meal if you eat and drink carefully. But seriously, who does that?

In comparison to another similar dark berry lipstick by MAC called Rebel, Venom definitely has a much better formula. Rebel tends to be rather drying and gets patchy over the day. It is what I would consider a high-maintenance lipstick. Venom has a smoother consistency and re-applying is easy. It fades evenly and does not dry out my lips.

The Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick can be found at Sephora for RM73. I need to go back to take a better look at the other colours and possibly pick up another shade because I am quite the fan now.

Have you tried the Revolution Lipstick and what do you think about it? What is your favourite dramatic lip? Do pop in and share your thoughts as I’d love to hear them.

Thanks, Plue! Actually the formula is not very moist but is creamy enough to not dry out my lips. I honestly cannot recall what blush I was wearing because I took the photo more than a week ago but I think it’s Topshop in Powdered.

Hey Lyn, what a gorgeous shade on you! I keep thinking I should grab one of these, but I haven’t so far. There are so many great shades in the line-up. It’s hard to decide!

Thanks, Sunny! I know what you mean with such a large selection of shades. But the good thing is, there is probably something available for everyone :-)
