I was browsing through Guerlain a few weeks ago and noticed they have a new nail polish in the Crazy Paris Holiday 2013 collection. I swatched it and was instantly captivated by the dark vampy shade.
It applies quite smoothly with two coats and is pretty opaque. The colour appears to be a deep blackened burgundy with hints of fuschia and lavender shimmer. It is so beautiful! I don’t think I have anything similar although Lunasol’s Deep Black Red that came out a couple of years ago is probably the closest I have in my stash.
Sulfurous lasted approximately 2 days before showing signs of tip wear. I did not apply a top coat, which would have prolonged its wear. Truth be told, I am not particularly impressed with its wear-time and would have preferred if it lasted just another day longer.
I do find the name to be a bit misleading because when I picture sulphur, I think of it as a greenish-yellow element. But I think what Guerlain went for is “burning sulphur smoke” hence the darker shade. Whatever it is, this polish sure is beautiful (yes, I think I’ve mentioned that before).
Since it is limited edition, I am not sure if it is still available but you may still find it at our local Guerlain counters if you’re lucky. Each bottle costs RM68 or RM70 (apologies as my old brain cannot quite recall), which is around the same price range as most other highend nail polishes in the market.
Do you like dark polishes? I love switching up my nails from the usual neutrals every once a while so Sulfurous is a welcomed addition to my ever-growing stash.
