On days when my skin requires a pick-me-up, I turn to the Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask. This is a relatively recent purchase from the TNS Skin Lab store in Paradigm Mall. I have heard about Antipodes sometime back and in fact, came across its skincare range in Sydney two years ago.
Antipodes is a natural skincare brand from New Zealand that uses certified organic ingredients in its line of products. The Aura Manuka Honey Mask has been widely reviewed by beauty bloggers so I had to find out what the fuss was all about. The mask is meant to moisturise and cleanse skin whilst delivering some antioxidant properties. It also claims to be a treatment for spots and blemishes.
The mask has a creamy consistency and spreads very easily on my face. It dries to an almost clear appearance in about 5 to 10 minutes. I like to leave it on for at least 15 minutes before washing it off. Lately I have been using a damp washcloth to gently wipe the mask off from my face before rinsing. After a masking session, my skin feels really soft and smooth and appears brighter. Sometimes I will exfoliate before applying the mask and I think this helps with the efficacy because the product is absorbed better.
The scent is absolutely delish… To me, it smells like a creamy lemon meringue pie. I don’t think it has any lemons in it but there must be something in the blend of mandarin oil, vanilla pod and manuka that makes it one lovely smelling mask. I am also very impressed that manuka honey is the 2nd ingredient listed because we all know it is expensive stuff. My combination skin has a tendency to be rather sensitive but I have not had any adverse reactions so far.
Do I like this mask? I most certainly do! I love the scent and I love how it makes my skin feel. The only thing I do not love as much is the price. It retails for RM168 at the TNS Skin Lab store but you can get it cheaper if purchased straight from the Antipodes website. Do bear in mind you’d need to add in shipping cost so it may come up to about the same as purchasing it locally.
