The Dior 1 Couleur Eye Gloss is their first liquid eyeshadow and has been released in the Dior Croisette Summer 2012 Collection as limited edition. There are 4 very pretty shades in Azur, Tan, Sunset and Seashell.
Both Tan and Sunset are truly stunning shades. I initially thought that these colours won’t suit me because they seem to be better for warmer skin tones but I find that I can carry these off quite well too.
Tan #750 is a shimmery mid-tone bronze and it contains gorgeous gold toned flecks. Sunset #560 is a peachy-coral with sheer orange undertones and multi-coloured shimmer.
The texture of the eye gloss is rather gel-like and the consistency feels a little liquidy. Upon wearing and spreading the eye gloss onto lids, I immediately feel a cooling and watery sensation. It is lovely as a pick-me-up in the mornings. It doesn’t set as quickly as most cream shadows I am used to but once it does, it dries down to a lightweight powder finish.
They are very easy to blend and although Tan has slightly chunkier gold flecks, it does not feel gritty on my lids. I have worn both glosses on its own and together, and they are very pretty either way. The effect is more shimmery than gloss-like, which is a good thing because I don’t particularly fancy a wet-look on my eyelids.
I love the concept of liquid or cream eyeshadows. The fact that you can just dab them onto your lids and you’re good to go is very appealing because I am usually rushing out the door in the mornings. Sadly, many of them don’t last on my lids and tend to crease about halfway through the day. I need to apply an eye primer before slapping on the Dior eye glosses to prolong the wear because I tend to be out and about for long hours.
Overall, I am really digging the Dior Eye Gloss and have been wearing them quite regularly. In fact, I took Sunset on my recent trip to Sydney and was wearing it daily. You can use the eye gloss as a base colour for your eyeshadows or layer on top to add more sparkles but I like wearing it on its own as an eyelid wash.
The Dior 1 Couleur Eye Gloss retails at RM96. They are still available at most Dior counters but do bear in mind that these are limited edition items so they might disappear from the shelves quite soon. They are nice-to-have if you have that extra bit of cash lying around but not an essential considering the price you’ll be paying for just one colour.
