Paul & Joe Lipstick M in 003 Gotham Is Not Quite Gothic

I purchased this Paul & Joe lipstick in Gotham from the Manhattan Collection last year, which I thought was one of their most creative collections so far.

Gotham appears to be a dark, vampy burgundy from the tube but it applies with a semi-sheer quality, so the effect is not very deep. It has fine golden shimmers strewn through and it provides an interesting depth to the lipstick. The shimmers are not noticeable when applied though.

The texture is smooth and isn’t draggy. It does leave a slight sheen, probably from the shimmers and the consistency doesn’t feel gritty or uncomfortable. It is a very nice lipstick! On me, it appears to be a deep-ish berry shade and is a sophisticated and polished colour. It’s not quite as goth as I had thought.

I don’t think Gotham is available now and I’m sorry for featuring this a bit late. But I wanted to let you know that Paul & Joe may be pulling out of our local market soon! They have not brought in anything new since the Christmas collection, so the rumour is probably true. I’ll be so sad to see them go :-(

So, if you happen to have a favourite Paul & Joe product, I’d recommend stocking up now. I don’t think they are available at Sephora these days but the counters at Parkson Pavillion and Subang Parade are still there.

Update (6th April): Sadly, Paul & Joe has left for good. I saw the counter at Parkson Subang Parade last week but it’s gone today. Goodbye, my favourite cat-loving brand. You will be missed.

Do you have a Paul & Joe favourite? And are you planning to get anything before they pull out completely? They have already pulled out so don’t bother looking for them in Malaysia. Sigh…

That’s a really pretty shade! It looks more rosy on your lips in the picture. Now you’ve got me wondering if P&J SG still has this? :P

I think the morning light makes it look warmer than it actually is. It is a medium berry shade with slight purple undertones on me. If you can find it, I think you’ll like it :-)

Amazing shade, it looks lovely on you.
I’ve never tried Paul&Joe cosmetics but I’d love to!

Thanks for the compliment. They do have a few lovely products and I hope you’d get to test them out someday :-) The lipsticks and eyeshadows are quite pretty.

The lipstick looks lovely on you! Even though it’s not as dark as in the tube

Gah!! I knew I shouldn’t have put off getting the Eye Gloss :( I used it practically everyday. I still have Strawberrynet to fall back on but limited choices.

Ya, I nearly pengsan when I found out they were gone for good :-( I guess we need to start hunting online. They are available at Asos and with free worldwide shipping, the pricing is not too bad.

Oh no, I thought they were only pulling out from Malaysia and am sorry to hear Singapore is suffering the same fate. It’s a real shame because they do have lovely products and you’re right, the whitening essence is pretty good stuff.

Hi Lyn,
I haven’t had any Paul and Joe lipstick. The stamping on the lipstick looks cute. I might have to try soon :)

They do have quite a number of lovely products. I’m not sure if they’re available where you’re at but they are pulling out of Malaysia (and Singapore). I have three or four lipsticks and they are all very nice. It’s such a bummer that I can’t get a hold of them locally now because I was hoping the Spring 2012 collection would have been released here.

What…?! Oh no, P&J also gone from Malaysia. I’ve never tried it but I loved their cat lipsticks and cat e/s palettes. Overall, the packaging was always exquisite. Aww.. :(

What a bummer, eh? I was hoping they would bring in the Spring 2012 collection before leaving out shores. Sigh…
