I have a weakness for Japanese drugstore brands. It’s only because they have such cute packaging and I find all the kawaii-ness very hard to resist. Sometime late last year, CandyDoll cosmetics were brought into Sasa Malaysia and the moment I saw “pink and cute”, I had to pick up the pinkest and cutest thing on display.

CandyDoll Cheek Color in Strawberry Pink appears to be a very bright pink shade in the pan and quite honestly, it does look a tad bit scary. When applied, it transforms into a silky shade of magenta pink with relatively cool undertones.

The consistency is smooth and texture is quite typical of most Japanese drugstore blushes I’ve tried, which is slightly powdery but not so soft that it will create blush dust. I believe this allows the blush to adhere better to oily skin types.

It does not contain shimmer but has a slight sheen that is not very obvious. I have to remember to use a light hand because this blush is very pigmented and the first time I wore it out, I had really bright fuschia cheeks. It is not a good look unless I plan to be Mrs. Clown.

The morning light has a tendency to be quite yellow, so the blush appears a bit more warm than it actually is. It is a fairly long-lasting blush and it will fade towards the end of the day as my skin tends to get oily and I have to blot. Otherwise, the pigment stays put.

Strawberry Pink is a very sweet colour so don’t let the crazy, bright pink scare you until you’ve tried it. When applied correctly, it will give you cute, Japanesque cheeks. This is one of the blushes I use on a regular basis. Now that I have amassed quite a blush collection, it’s a good sign that I would actually use a blush more than once a week.

CandyDoll is a Japanese cosmetics brand fronted by the lovely model Ms. Tsubasa Masuwaka, whom I think is the same model for Dolly Wink under Koji. I think the two brands are under the same company but I may be wrong. Strawberry Pink Cheek Color retails at RM59 and can be found at Sasa stores locally or on the CandyDoll MY website.

Do you like sweet, pink cheeks and are you a fan of cuteness? Have you tried anything from CandyDoll before?

the pink is really bright on the pan, but look very much more subtle/ softer on you. i do wish they bring in Melliesh (front by model Yui Kanno), i think you would love those blushes too!

It is very pigmented and I have to use a very light hand because I did get crazy bright cheeks the first time I used it. I have a Melliesh blush and reviewed it before. Lovely stuff!

Eh, really? I think I got mine for around HKD38 (something like that), which I thought was such a bargain. My only regret is not getting more drugstore makeup when I was there!
