Over the weekend, I had to attend a team building event up on the hills of Genting. It may all sound very well and nice but I knew we’d be exposed to the great tropical outdoors and one of the things that will come with the territory were mosquitos. And all other forms of horrid insects.

I am not sure if it’s in my chemistry or something but mosquitos are very attracted to me. Put me in a room filled with other people and the darn things will seek my blood out first. My fellow beauty blogger friends can attest to this because I was out with them on one occassion and every mosquito in that room were biting me and not them.

Anyway, to protect myself against the crazy insects, I used Mosi-Guard to keep the blood-suckers at bay. Just spray on exposed parts of skin and hope for the best. A word of caution though, it stinks and stings! One of my colleagues applied some to his face and it stung for ages.

I can’t really describe the scent but it is very strong and lingers for quite a bit. I guess you can say it smells a little like insect repellent but a more floral and pleasant version.

Most importantly, does it work? I think it does to a certain extent. Throughout the time I was wearing Mosi-Guard, I was not bitten by loathesome mosquitos but there were other bugs that took a liking to me and weren’t as deterred.

Mosi-Guard is supposed to work up to 10 hours upon application. It contains Citriodiol®, a naturally occurring extract of lemon eucalyptus oil. According to the description, not only does it help prevent mosquitos, it also protects against sandflies, ticks, midges and leeches. But I honestly think that tropical bugs are more persistent, so no amount of insect repellent will completely keep them away.

Mosi-Guard Natural Insect Repellent performed quite succesfully in my books. It may not have kept every nasty, disgusting insect at bay but it did help with keeping the mosquito bites to a minimum.

You can find Mosi-Guard in most local drugstores (pharmacies) at around RM29.90 (I can’t recall the exact price). Do visit their website (<<link) for more information. This product is made in the U.K.

I use this on my girls. It works for them =) When they have this on, I let them play in the garden. Without it, they come back with lots of nasty mozzy bites.

Seriously, they are such bloodthirsty lil’ suckers but I guess that’s the sole purpose of a mozzy’s life. I must say this insect repellent is very effective. I went jungle trekking late night and survived with minimal bites :-)
